Senior Day Care Centers Can Provide a Sense of Community
Senior day care centers provide a place for elders to gather in a community setting. The senior benefits by socializing with peers in a safe environment, taking part in activities such as group discussions, crafts, and music. The caregiver obtains respite from what would otherwise be a 24–hour responsibility.
Senior day care facilities vary in scope. Some only provide activities. Others may provide services that range from physical therapy to temporary medical care, including programs for Alzheimer’s patients. Meals and round trip transportation may or may not be included.
You should compare several senior day care centers as to quality and cost before deciding which one may be right for your elderly loved one. Find out what professional training the staff has received. Ask to see a list of trips and activities. Check menus. Above all, plan numerous visits to each center to observe how seniors are treated.
